ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday strongly condemned a terrorist attack targeting the security forces in Kahan, Awaran area of Balochistan.
The prime minister paid tribute to Major Shahid Bashir for sacrificing his life to safeguard the motherland. He prayed for peace of the departed soul and for early recovery of a soldier who sustained injuries in the attack. The prime minister applauded the security forces’ resolve for foiling the forces poised to disrupt peace and stability of Balochistan.
Chairman of Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani also strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a security forces check post in the Awaran area of Balochistan.
The chairman expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives as a result of a terrorist attack and said that such cowardly acts could not shake nation the resolve.
He said that terrorists would never be allowed to sabotage the process of development in the province. The sacrifices of the army and security forces in the war against terrorism are unmatched, he added.
Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjarani prayed for the high ranks of Major Shahid Basheer who was martyred as a result of a terrorist attack and speedy recovery of the injured.
A Pakistan Army major embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Balochistan’s Awaran area. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a group of terrorists fire raided a checkpost but security forces repulsed the attack and went after the terrorists in nearby mountains.
“At one of the cordons established to block the passage of fleeing terrorists, a heavy exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces,” the ISPR added.
During the skirmish, the military said Major Shahid Bashir lost his life while another soldier sustained injuries. The ISPR said the forces caused heavy losses to the terrorists.
