KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines as well as private airlines have exorbitantly increased their domestic fares.
Reports said Air Blue, Serene Air and Air Sial, have raised their fares as they have issued new fare charts to the travel agents.
One-way fares for flights between Lahore and Karachi have been increased from Rs35,000 to 70,000, the reports claimed.
The massive increase has travelers in a state of shock, and they have urged the Competitive Commission to take action to stop the unfair increase in airfare.
Meanwhile, airline officials have attributed an increase in fares due to passenger load following the conclusion of summer vacation on demand and supply.
A day earlier, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar approved an Rs19.95 per litre hike in petrol prices, pushing them to Rs272.95 for the forthcoming fortnightly review.
