PESHAWAR: Strong winds, heavy rain and lightning killed nine people and injured seven others in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said in its initial report.
According to PDMA, the incidents were caused by strong winds, torrential rains and lightning strikes in different districts of KP. Among the nine dead are five men, two women and two children. Seven people were injured in various incidents.
The incidents occurred in Dera Ismail Khan (D.I. Khan), Upper Dir, Kohat and Orakzai districts. Due to the strong winds and rains, four houses were damaged in total, three partially and one completely.
DG PDMA has directed the relevant district administrations to immediately provide relief items to the affected families and expedite rescue operations.
PDMA, Rescue 1122 and local district administrations are present in the affected areas and engaged in relief activities.
