The Pakistan Council for Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has declared 28 brands of bottled water unsafe for drinking due to microbiological or chemical contamination.
According to PCRWR, 176 samples of mineral water brands were collected from 20 cities across Pakistan. Upon testing, a comparison with the bottled water quality standards set by the Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) revealed that 28 brands contained hazardous levels of contaminants, making them unfit for drinking.
Brands Found to Have High Sodium Levels
The following brands were found to contain sodium levels exceeding the safe limit:
- Miran Drinking Water
- Pak Aqua
- Jel Bottled Water
- Neo
- Aab-e-Dubai
- Eltsen
- Pure Water
- Aqua Health
- Oslo
- More Plus
Brands Found to Have High Arsenic Levels
These brands contained unsafe levels of arsenic, posing serious health risks:
- One Pure Drinking Water
- Indus
- Premium Safa Purified Water
- Orwell
- Natural Pure Life
- Hunza Utter Water (also found unsafe due to excessive potassium levels)

Brands Contaminated with Bacteria
The following brands were found to contain microbiological contamination, making them unsafe for consumption:

- Neo
- Pure Water
- Dream Pure
- Aqua Sharav Pure Drinking Water
- Marvi
- Ice Well
