The government has cancelled the parade and related events scheduled for Pakistan Day on 23 March 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the decision was taken in light of the Gulf oil crisis and the government’s austerity measures. As a result, the Pakistan Day parade and all associated ceremonies will not be held.
However, the day will still be observed with dignity and respect through simple flag-hoisting ceremonies.
The move is intended to ensure that the nation’s commitment to the ideals of Pakistan Day, along with a broader policy of financial restraint, is maintained.
The statement further directed all ministries, divisions and departments to mark the occasion in a simple and dignified manner, so that the significance and core message of the day are preserved despite limited celebrations.
