MOSCOW: The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday that over 11,500 people have infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) globally bringing the total number of confirmed cases above 179,000.
According to the WHO daily report on COVID-19), 179,112 cases have been reported globally, with 11,526 new ones over the past 24 hours, adding that the global death toll has jumped by 475 to 7,426.
The report further indicated that eight new countries, or regions including, Region of the Americas-3, African Region-3, Eastern Mediterranean Region-1, and Western Pacific Region-one have reported cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to increase, WHO is devoted to working together with the countries on emergency vigilance and response, the WHO added.
On Tuesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) had said in its new coronavirus report that about 14,000 people had infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) globally.
According to the WHO report, about 14,000 people had infected with the novel coronavirus disease over the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases above 167,500.
The WHO further stated 167,511 cases had been reported across the globe, with 13,903 new ones, adding that the worldwide death toll had jumped by 862 to 6,606 on Tuesday.
WHO reported stated that the number of confirmed cases in China remained at 81,077; the death count has accomplished 3,218.
It further said that the number of COVID-19 cases outside of China has augmented by 13,874 to 86,434 on Tuesday in more than 152 countries.
The new coronavirus was first emerged in China’s Hubei province Wuhan, in December 2019, and has since spread worldwide. Earlier, the WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic.
