The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested eight individuals in Lahore for allegedly spreading defamatory content against superior court judges on social media.
Officials said the suspects were running campaigns aimed at mocking, insulting, and tarnishing the reputation of judicial officers.
A detailed report on the matter has been submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC), which will be reviewed by Justice Ali Zia Bajwa.
Earlier, the LHC had directed the NCCIA to appear in court and compile a complete list of people involved in posting content that defames judges.
The court emphasized that it would hold the agency accountable for any future lapses in preventing such online attacks.
Earlier, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has announced that she will file the first-ever case in Punjab’s Defamation Court.
The legal action will be taken against Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Moeen Qureshi.
