Grab your snacks, because Bollywood’s favorite “one-man demolition squad,” Sunny Deol, is back to liberate us from the burden of reality.
The trailer for Border 2 dropped on Thursday, and if you thought the 1997 original was loud, this one is basically a 3-minute audition for a megaphone company.
Set against the 1971 war, the trailer features Sunny Deol, now apparently promoted to “Supreme Roarer,” asking his troops where their voices should reach. The answer? “Lahore tak!” Which is actually quite thoughtful of them; we were getting a bit bored with the usual traffic noise on Mall Road anyway.
The Goat Logic
In a move that clearly bypassed the UN but made it into the script, a viral dialogue compares Pakistan’s entire population to the number of goats in India. We’d be offended, but honestly, with mutton prices these days, being compared to a high-value commodity is almost a compliment.
This time, Sunny isn’t just bringing the army. He’s tagged along with Varun Dhawan (for the skincare routine), Diljit Dosanjh (to ensure the soundtrack slaps), and Ahan Shetty (to remind us that Suniel Shetty’s legacy of staring intensely is in safe hands).
VFX from 1971
While the film is set in the 70s, many fans noted that the CGI tanks and planes also seem to have been rendered on a computer from 1971.
Social media in Pakistan has reacted with its usual brand of “Shukar Hai” (Thank God) sarcasm.
Pakistani actor Shaan Shahid reportedly took a jibe, reminding everyone that while Sunny’s voice is reaching Lahore, our own “Rafale-dropping” sound effects from May 2025 were also quite audible.
Trade analysts suggest the film will be a massive hit in India, largely because screaming at a screen is cheaper than actual therapy.
In Pakistan, the film is expected to be “released” exclusively on Telegram and pirated USB sticks within 45 minutes of its premiere.
