Islamabad United fast-bowler Naseem Shah incurred a 10% fine of his match fee following a breach of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) Code of Conduct.
The incident occurred during Islamabad United’s match against Multan Sultans when Shah, found guilty of violating Article 2.2, kicked the stumps after the final ball of Multan Sultans’ innings.
Shah admitted to the charge, and the on-field umpires Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Muhammad Asif, along with match referee Roshan Mahanama, endorsed the proposed sanctions.
His actions were classified as a level 1 breach of the PSL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. In the high-scoring thriller, Islamabad United secured a three-wicket victory over Multan Sultans in Rawalpindi, successfully chasing down the target of 229 on the last ball of the inning. This win secured their place as the third team to qualify for the playoffs.
Simultaneously, Multan Sultans faced penalties for maintaining a slow over-rate in the same match. The match referee, Roshan Mahanama, deemed the Sultans one over short of their target, considering time allowances. Consequently, in line with Article 2.22 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, each Multan Sultans player received a 10% fine of their match fee.
