The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has concluded its deliberations and finalized the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, set to take place in America and the West Indies later this year. The announcement of the squad is slated to occur after the conclusion of the first T20 match against England.
After thorough consultations, the selected squad comprises a well-balanced mix of talent, with representation from various playing positions. Among the chosen players are five fast bowlers, four all-rounders, and three wicket-keepers, ensuring versatility and depth in the team lineup.
From the initial 18-man squad selected for the tour of Ireland and England, 15 players have been designated for the T20 World Cup squad, while the remaining three players will serve as travel reserves, providing essential backup for the team.
Key players such as captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and seasoned campaigners like Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Shah Afridi headline the 15-member squad, alongside emerging talents like Saim Ayub and Abbas Afridi.
In addition to the core squad members, the PCB has included fast bowlers Hassan Ali, Agha Salman, and Irfan Niazi as supplementary players, bolstering the team’s depth and options in crucial bowling departments.
However, the delay in announcing the squad has drawn criticism from former cricketing luminaries, with ex-PCB chairman Ramiz Raja urging the selection committee to expedite the announcement process to alleviate any potential player uncertainties. Raja emphasized the importance of clarity for the players to avoid any distractions or conflicts ahead of the prestigious tournament.
As anticipation builds for Pakistan’s campaign in the T20 World Cup, the finalization of the squad marks a significant step in the team’s preparations as they aim for success on the global stage.
