NADRA has announced the removal of the fee for canceling a National Identity Card (CNIC) due to the cardholder’s death.
According to a NADRA spokesperson, the cancellation fee for CNICs in the event of death has officially been waived.
Moreover, a pilot project has been launched in three districts of Punjab, enabling death registration through a mobile app integrated with the Provincial Civil Registration Management System (CRMS). Within a few weeks, this service, covering birth, marriage, divorce, and death registrations, will be available nationwide.
The spokesperson further said that data sharing with the provincial CRMS has been strengthened. Once a death is registered in the provincial CRMS, the CNIC can be canceled via NADRA’s Pak-ID mobile app.

These initiatives have significantly improved data accuracy and reduced cases of fraudulent registrations.
Earlier on Friday, NADRA rolled out a new appointment booking feature through its Pak ID mobile app, allowing citizens to schedule visits to NADRA Registration Centers (NRCs) nationwide.
The new system is designed to streamline operations at NRCs by minimizing long queues and wait times. Citizens are advised to arrive at least 10 minutes before their scheduled slot to ensure smooth and timely processing.
