ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday formed a special committee to investigate the audio leak of Najam Saqib, the son of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar.
The decision came after the National Assembly unanimously approved the formation of a Special Committee of the House to probe the matter. The audio recording purportedly shows Najam Saqib selling a PTI ticket to a candidate of the Punjab provincial assembly, claiming that his father had to work hard to get the ticket sanctioned.

The proposal for setting up the committee was moved by Shahida Akhtar Ali, the federal parliamentary secretary communication. The committee is expected to be formed this week by the Speaker, and it will request a forensic analysis of the audio.
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while chairing a meeting of his party, directed the formation of a committee to investigate the audio leak involving Najam Saqib.
The Speaker of the National Assembly has appointed Muhammad Aslam Bhootani as Chairman of the committee. The committee comprises Ms Shahida Akhtar Ali, Muhammad Abu Bakar, Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Sheikh Rahale Asghar, Syed Hussain Tariq, Ms Naz Baloch, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Wajiha Qamar, and Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla.
The committee has been directed to conduct a ‘thorough investigation’ and inquiry into the said audio leak and present a comprehensive report in the National Assembly. Additionally, the committee will be assisted by ‘any investigative agency’.
