Famous Colombian singer Shakira has said that her sons watched Barbie and absolutely hated the movie.
Yes, Shakira’s sons weren’t huge fans of Margot Robbi and Ryan Gosling starrer. In this month’s cover story for Allure, the 47-year-old singer revealed that her sons are 9-year-old Sasha and 11-year-old Milan, who she shares with ex Gerard Piqué, revealed that her sons did not like Barbie, adding that she wasn’t a fan either.
According to Shakira, her sons absolutely hated the movie. She told the magazine, “They felt it was emasculating. And I agree, to a certain extent.”
“I’m raising two boys. I want them to feel powerful too [while] respecting women,” she said by adding, “I like pop culture when it attempts to empower women without robbing men of their possibility to be men, to protect and provide.”
She maintained, “I believe in giving women all the tools and the trust that we can do it all without losing our essence, without losing our femininity.” For Shakira, she thinks that men have a purpose in society and women have another purpose as well.
