The crime series ‘Under the Bridge’ is an American drama television miniseries that is currently streaming on Hulu.
The series premiered on Hulu last month on April 17, 2024. It is based on the book of the same name by Rebecca Godfrey. However, many people wonder if the series is fictional or based on a true story; Well, the story deftly blends fact and fiction.
Plot
The series tells the story of Reena Virk, a fourteen-year-old girl who was killed by her friends in 1997. By now you may already know that Cam Bentland (Lily Gladstone), the lead detective on the show, is a composite of the cops who worked on Reena’s case.
The two detectives must work together to take down the killer operating on both sides of the Texas-Chihuahua border. There are eight episodes of the series.
Based on a true story
The book and series track the 1997 death of Reena Virk—a British Columbian 14-year-old girl who was beaten and drowned in a saltwater inlet known as the Gorge Waterway—and the subsequent murder investigation, which resulted in the sentencing of six teenage girls and one boy. To adapt the story for television, series creator Quinn Shephard worked closely with Godfrey in the years leading up to Godfrey’s death from lung cancer in October 2022.
