KARACHI: Police on Monday claimed to have recovered a minor abducted boy and arrested three a female kidnapper along with her accomplices in the metropolis.
According to police sources, the accused had abducted a one-and-half-year-old boy, Shehraz from Shah Faisal Colony 24 June and was selling him to a couple in Korangi.
The police officials further said the kidnapper was selling the infant for only Rs20 000, adding that those arrested include an alleged kidnapper and a couple.
The recovered boy would be handed over to his parents after legal formalities, police said. The police have lodged an FIR and launched investigations into the case.
On May 4, police officials had recovered a minor girl allegedly abducted from Karachi’s Korangi area by arresting three kidnappers.
According to police, a five-year-old girl had been kidnapped from Korangi’s Sector 51-B and a case had been lodged at the local police station over the complaint of the girl’s maternal uncle.
The First Investigation Report (FIR) had stated that the girl had been abducted when she was playing with other children in the neighborhood outside her house.
On March 15, police had recovered 11 kidnapped children, four boys and seven girls, whose ages ranged from two months to three years, from a bungalow in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and arrested five women and three men.
A senior police officer said police had raided a spotted bungalow, No A-29, in Block 13-D in Gulshan-i-Iqbal after they received information about the presence of kidnapped children.
Police found 11 children, and five women and three men there. The latter had been taken into custody. The children were about to be smuggled out of the country.
Later, the children were sent to the Edhi Child Home in Mithadar. Police had also registered a case against the suspects.
