JAPAN: Microsoft Japan experimented with a four-day work week for a month and gained promising results.
According to the Guardian’s report, the US IT giant in Japan closed offices on each Friday in August. The 2,300 full-time employees got special leaves as a part of the experience. The results were impressive as the sales boosted and the costs lowered.
The meetings were restricted to 30 minutes and communications were held through online mediums.
These steps led to work efficiency and happier workers. It is worth mentioning that productivity boosted to 40%.
The productivity elevated because employees took 25% less off time.
After the results, the firm officials said, “Employees want to have a variety of ways of working. Adopting this model more broadly could help in boosting efficiency as well.”
