LAHORE: The accountability court has issued ‘robkar’ (mandamus) to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz for her release in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
“Robkar” mandamus a judicial writ issued as a command ordering a person to perform a public or statutory duty.
A bench headed by judge Amjad Nazir Chaudhry issued Maryam Nawaz the robkar after the surety bonds were submitted and scrutinized in the accountability court.

Meanwhile, PML-N leaders are on their way to jail, and she is expected to be released shortly.
Maryam was expected to be released earlier on Monday; however, the surety bonds were not submitted as court hours (3 pm) exceeded so the bail was extended.
The registrar had asked her lawyer to proceed with the remaining work today.
Maryam’s lawyer informed the registrar of the LHC that all documents of her bail were completed. He requested the registrar to issue instructions for obtaining bail bonds.

On 4th November, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted bail to Maryam in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi announced the verdict reserved on 31st October on Maryam’s bail plea. The bench has directed Maryam Nawaz to submit her passport in the LHC.
LHC’s Judge stated it could not intervene in the matters of the trial court. It said allegations of withdrawal of Rs700 million from the account of Maryam Nawaz needs further investigation.
On 8th August, Maryam was arrested by the NAB in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case along wither her cousin Yousaf Abbas.
According to the data revealed by the NAB, Sharif Family had used Chaudhry Sugar Mills for money-laundering and illegal transfer of its shares.
It was revealed during the inquiry that a $15 million loan was taken on the pretext to set up the mill despite the fact that it had already been established before the loan was taken. The loan was never transferred to Pakistan as shown by the record of the State Bank of Pakistan.
On 24th October, Maryam Nawaz had filed a plea in LHC requesting the court to release her on bail as her father was unwell and undergoing medical treatment at the hospital.
