Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has criticized Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori’s recent remarks and called on the Prime Minister to immediately take notice of his political involvement.
According to details, while addressing the media after inaugurating several development projects in the Korangi district, Mayor Wahab asked, “Can a governor be involved in politics? A governor should not hold the flag of any political party. He should raise the slogan of ‘Pakistan Zindabad,’ not represent any party.”
He indirectly criticized Governor Tessori for his recent statement regarding the “return of Bhai” and the revival of the “old MQM,” saying, “Perhaps he considers himself that ‘Bhai.’”
Wahab stressed that since the offices of President and Governor are non-political, the Prime Minister must take immediate notice of the matter.
The mayor said that public welfare and urban development are his top priorities. He added, “Today’s Karachi is changing under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and the people are expressing full confidence in the Pakistan Peoples Party. We are serving without discrimination or prejudice. We do not care who controls which union council; if residents of Karachi live there, Bilawal Bhutto’s party will provide services. We consider serving the people of Korangi an opportunity, and we are enthusiastic about it.”
Highlighting infrastructure improvements, Wahab said that with the completion of the new Hub Canal, Karachi’s water supply system has improved for the first time in 22 years. “This is a slap in the face of those who only made promises,” he remarked.
He further pointed out that the K-IV water project had been inaugurated five times by five different prime ministers and leaders without progress. “Now your PPP mayor and deputy mayor have completed the new Hub Canal, improving water supply for citizens. We have also started work on the portions of the K-IV project handed over to our government,” he said.
