LAHORE: The masks and hand sanitizers have disappeared from the local markets in Lahore as the confirmed cases of coronavirus reached 94 in Pakistan.
Sources informed here on Monday that the citizens of Lahore are complaining about the shortage of masks and sanitizers from the markets, saying that masks are not there even against the double price.
A local said the stocks of shielding types of equipment as surgical masks and respiratory protective equipment disappeared from the markets after confirmation of 92 coronavirus cases in the country.
He said, “The N95 mask, used to protect from coronavirus is not available at medical stores, as well as, wholesaler markets.” Sources further said profiteers have increased the prices of surgical masks, common mask sanitizers due to poor check and balance systems.
The authorities have already warned the profiteers about hoarding, saying that severe action would be taken against those found guilty of hoarding masks and sanitizers.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan jumped to 94 on Monday after more people were diagnosed with the disease across the country. As per details, 76 patients were from Sindh, ten from Balochistan, four from Islamabad, three from Gilgit-Baltistan and one person in Lahore.
