Increasing inflation, low purchasing power, unemployment, delayed payments, unfavorable business environment and other elements after creating a crunch situation for the masses, especially middle, and lower middle have now started to take lives.
On Tuesday, In a shocking and gruesome incident, a man named Fawad brutally killed his wife and three minor daughters and tried to commit suicide after falling into depression over losses in business and demand of money from the investors.
The murders sent shock waves through the neighbourhood and the country as news channels flashed the news about the gory incident on TV screens.
A preliminary investigation report showed that the culprit, identified as Fawad, worked as a sales manager at a private firm and was also doing business on the money of investors.
The slain persons included Fawad’s wife Huma, 10-year-old Samra, 12-year-old Fatima and 16-year-old Neha.
According to Fawad’s confessional statement, he was also running a trading business with the collaboration of some investors besides doing a job in which he faced losses, whereas, he and his wife usually fights at home. Fawad said that he was totally fed up with his life.
“I was already in depression due to the losses and demands of investors of giving back their money.”
Due to the pressure of investors and the continuous ‘misbehavior’ of my wife, I decided to kill my family and myself, Fawad said.
The Malir killings have really exposed the ugly face of society and the economic policies of the government which has forced people to go to such extent that they even kill their loved ones. The initial investigation and according to the confessional statement of Fawad, he was being forced to return the money by investors but due to losses he was unable in doing so and decided to take such a heinous step.
Definitely, the aspects of the matter will further reveal in the coming days as the police have launched the investigation, but the findings unveiled until now are really horrible and needs strong and concrete steps to avoid such mishaps in the future.
