Maleeha Lodhi urges UN to live up to responsibilities over IOK

NEW YORK: Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Maleeha Lodhi on Tuesday said that the UN should live up to its responsibilities over Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK).
Dr. Maleeha Lodhi met President of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Maria Fernanda Espinosa on Tuesday and briefed her on India’s ongoing outrage in occupied Kashmir.
In her tweet, Maleeha Lodhi said, “Met Maria Fernanda Espinosa, President of UN General Assembly & briefed her in detail about the grave situation in occupied Kashmir.”

She added that ‘the continuing curfew and lockdown in occupied Kashmir is exacerbating the suffering of the Kashmiri people. UN should live up to its obligations on IOK.’
Lodhi briefed the UNGA president in detail about the human rights violations being perpetrated in the occupied territory, where the curfew and communications blackout entered its 23rd day on Tuesday.
Since 5th August, Indian troops have continued their suppression on occupied Kashmir, when the Modi government revoked occupied Kashmir’s special status.
