NEW YORK: Former Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi on Friday departed from New York after ending her tenure at the UN.
Before departing from New York to London, Maleeha Lodhi met the President of the UN General assembly, Tijjani Muhammad-Bande.

Lodhi vacated the seat for the next ambassador, Munir Akram. She reiterated the stance of Pakistan with regard to the illegal occupation of Kashmir and demanded the world take note of assumed rights and human tragedies.
In February 2015, Lodhi was appointed by former premier Nawaz Sharif to serve as the Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Pakistan to the UN in New York City.

Lodhi is one of Pakistan’s prominent diplomats.[8] She has been named as an international scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center and, in 1994, Lodhi was named by ‘Time Magazine’ as one of a hundred people in the world who will help to shape the 21st century.
