KARACHI: The case of Mir Raza’s murder has taken a new turn after Firozabad Police booked around 100 people for blocking Shara Faisal during a demonstration seeking justice for slain businessman.

Police registered FIR No. 898/2026 on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Nizam under Sections 147, 149, 186, 341 and 504 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The FIR relates to a protest near Shara Faisal Nursery Stop at 12:30am on August 27.

The protesters carried sticks and banners, the FIR said. The banners carried slogans demanding arrest of Mir Raza’s killers. Police said protesters blocked vehicles and raised slogans.

The FIR nominates 20 people including Adnan Raza, Danish Rehman, Danish Raza, Faizan, Hamza, Raza Hassan, Ali Zubair, Talha, Ali Zohaib, Shahryar, Sibtain, Ammar, Abdullah, Zarar, Ahmed, Bilal, Jamil, Taha Sheikh, Babar Hameed and Sheikh Talha. It also includes 75 to 80 unidentified associates.

Shara Faisal Nursery protest triggers police action

Police said they tried to persuade the protesters to clear the road. But the demonstrators continued shouting slogans and kept the road blocked for vehicles and pedestrians, the complainant said.

The FIR alleges that the accused acted with common intention to block the road, harass the public, abuse officials and interfere in government functioning.

After registration, Firozabad police have handed over the case to the investigation wing for further probe.

Firozabad police FIR and growing pressure in Mir Raza case

The Mir Raza protest case comes amid rising public pressure over the murder of the young businessman. It may be recalled that Mir Raza, 25, was found dead in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on July 29. Police first called it suicide, but a second postmortem after exhumation confirmed homicide.

The case has already seen a judicial commission debate and a local trial court set deadline of Sept 7 for the police report. The family has rejected the commission and sought a JIT, while civil society groups have held regular demonstrations at Shara Faisal, Clifton and elsewhere.
