LONDON: The Pakistan Cricket Board is reported to have registered its protest with Sky Interview after English broadcaster Sky Sports aired a segment with the sons of the former prime minister during the lunch interval on the first day of the second Test at Lord’s.
PCB Protests Sky Interview on Imran Khan at Lord’s
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged a formal complaint with the broadcaster and initially considered having players refuse to return to the field after the break in protest.
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, former England captain Mike Atherton conducted the 18-minute interview with Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, who expressed fears for their father’s life during his three-year imprisonment.
Sky delayed the broadcast following PCB intervention before running the segment. Domestic rightsholder PTV did not broadcast the clip in Pakistan.
Friction Following SC Hospital Directives
The broadcast follows last week’s letter from 21 international captains urging Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to ensure proper care for the former captain.
Meanwhile, legal friction continues after executive authorities diverted the former premier to PIMS instead of keeping him at Shifa International Hospital as ordered under the Imran Khan Hospital Transfer Contempt proceedings.
However, government officials rejected allegations of mistreatment, stating he received over 900 visits.
Despite threatening a boycott, Pakistan returned to the field at 2:40 PM. The matter regarding Khan’s interview remains unresolved as official comments are awaited.
