In exciting news from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), a group of seven students achieved something remarkable in the world of global problem-solving. At the prestigious Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) competition in USA, they clinched the Best Small Delegation award for the second consecutive year. This accomplishment is a big deal and serves as an inspiration for young people in Pakistan.
HNMUN is recognized as the oldest and most significant Model UN conference globally, bringing together 1500-1800 students from top universities worldwide. The competition covers a wide range of global issues, from Artificial Intelligence to Climate Change, and includes teams from prestigious schools like Princeton, Stanford, and Yale.
Despite fierce competition, the LUMS team emerged as winners, standing out among big universities and bringing hope to Pakistani youth worldwide. Overcoming challenges and breaking stereotypes, they became the first non-American or non-European team to win the Best Small Delegation award for two consecutive years. This achievement not only reflects the team’s intelligence but also showcases their determination and teamwork, values instilled by their university.
The journey to victory was demanding, involving challenges such as jet lag and language barriers. Representing Pakistan, a diverse country with abundant opportunities, the team demonstrated a profound understanding of global issues and skillfully navigated diplomatic discussions. Their eloquence, negotiation skills, and effective defense of Pakistan’s views left a lasting impression on everyone.
Crucial to their success was the support of sponsors like Bank Al Falah, whose sponsorship ensured the team’s participation in HNMUN. Such support provides Pakistani youth with more opportunities to shine globally. This triumph is not just for LUMS or Pakistan; it’s a victory for all of Asia. By surpassing Western universities in this challenging competition, LUMS has made history, proving that Asian universities can compete at the highest level. This win serves as motivation for other young people across Asia to aim high.
