LAHORE: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shariq Jamal was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence, police said.
According to police, the body of DIG Shariq Jamal Khan was found in an apartment located in DHA and was shifted to the hospital where doctors confirmed his passing before arrival.
Police reached the scene after being informed that the lifeless body was found in the apartment. The body was later moved to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police authorities have launched an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. According to the initial reports, no family members were present at the time of his death.
It was revealed that the police officer sent two domestic workers out before his death. Upon their return, the workers found him dead in his bedroom and quickly alerted the police.
The members of DIG Shariq Jamal’s family, who were present at a different house, were informed about the unfortunate incident. A case was also registered on the complaint of the deceased police officer’s wife.
The deceased resided in Phase 4 which falls under the jurisdiction of Defence-A police station. The flat where he was found dead comes under the jurisdiction of Nishtar police station.
The DIG was currently serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD). He has also served as DIG traffic and DIG railways. He had recently returned home after passing a departmental course for promotion in Grade 21.
