A viral video from Lahore’s Multan Chungi area has created an uproar in the city and on social media, in which a domestic maid is allegedly seen being brutally tortured by the house owner and another man present with him.
In the video, a man can be seen punching, kicking, pulling the hair of, and beating a woman lying on the bed, while another man also appears to be involved in the incident. The depiction of the incident has sparked public outrage and demands for justice.

Social media users state that domestic workers should be given full protection under the framework of human rights because they are often treated as ‘animals,’ subjected to cruel mistreatment, and rarely receive justice.
Public demands also include that if the accused shown in the video are proven to belong to the same house and neighborhood, police should immediately register a case and take strict legal action. Medical examination and forensic evidence are also being declared necessary to strengthen the case.
Some social media users have said that the woman does not appear to be fully a maid, but regardless of that, such cruelty against any human being is nonetheless unforgivable and deserving of punishment.
