The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has approved tax relief measures for local service providers and industrial undertakings in Malakand division and the former tribal areas, as well as a series of initiatives covering education, youth employment, healthcare and compensation for victims of terrorism.

The cabinet approved two draft notifications, one exempting local service providers from sales tax on services and another waiving the requirement for industrial undertakings in the former tribal areas and Malakand division to withhold sales tax.

The cabinet also increased the allocation for the Ehsaas Naujawan Programme from Rs3 billion to Rs5 billion to support youth entrepreneurship, self-employment and financial inclusion.

It approved grants of Rs188.8 million for model schools in merged districts and Rs60 million for Langlands School and College in Chitral.

Education reforms included a jacketed textbook system for grades KG to V from 2027-28 and free textbooks for students in grades 9 to 12.

The cabinet also approved Rs66.6 million for treatment of 21 patients and enhanced compensation for civilian victims of militant attacks, including Rs10 million for families of those killed in Bajaur.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the provincial government had set a revenue target of Rs180 billion for the current fiscal year and expressed confidence it would be achieved through stronger revenue mobilisation.
