ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to allocate funds in the upcoming budget for several ongoing development projects in Karachi, according to official documents.
The documents show that a proposal has been made to allocate Rs1.98 billion for the Green Line Bus project in Karachi. Additional funding has also been proposed for infrastructure development, including roads, drainage systems, and water supply projects across the city.
In Karachi, Rs260 million has been suggested for infrastructure rehabilitation in District West, while Rs370 million has been proposed for Nazimabad and Liaquatabad for road repairs, water supply, drainage, and related works. Furthermore, Rs350 million has been earmarked for development work in Landhi, Korangi, and nearby areas of Karachi, including roads, water supply, sewage systems, and playgrounds.
According to the documents, smaller allocations have also been proposed for other parts of Karachi, including Rs45 million for District Central and Rs50 million for Korangi and Malir for improvements in roads, streets, water, and drainage systems.
Sources said that the federal budget also includes proposals for launching new projects in Karachi. These include Rs400 million for the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre, Rs390 million for the upgradation of the National Research and Fertility Care project, and Rs50 million for the establishment of a National University of Nursing in Karachi.
