The Meteorological Department has issued a new weather alert, forecasting rainfall in Karachi as well as several districts across Sindh province.
According to weather experts, widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in most parts of interior Sindh between July 31 and August 2, while Karachi is likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.
Officials from the Meteorological Department, explaining the current weather situation, said: “At present, low-level monsoon winds are affecting the upper and central parts of the country.”
Experts further said that a westerly weather system is also present over the northern regions of the country, which is contributing to the development of this rain-producing system.
The Meteorological Department has advised both the public and local authorities to take all necessary precautions in view of the expected rain and strong winds.
The advisory aims to help prevent accidents and minimize disruptions to electricity supply and road traffic during the wet weather.
