Islamabad to get Kashmir Chowk underpass on Murree Road

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has opened technical bids for the construction of the Rs1.4 billion Kashmir Chowk underpass on Murree Road, commonly known as Dhokri Chowk, near Islamabad Club.

The project will allow traffic heading towards Rawalpindi from the Serena side to pass through the underpass, while vehicles travelling towards Murree will use the road above it.

Two firms, Habib Construction Services (HCS) and MS Kamran Khan (Kundi Group), submitted bids. The CDA declared Kundi Group non-responsive during the technical evaluation.

The company has filed a grievance, preventing the authority from opening the financial bids until the complaint is decided.

A CDA official said the grievance would be reviewed within five days, while the overall matter would be resolved within 15 days. If rejected, the company can approach the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

Both firms have previously executed major CDA projects.

Meanwhile, the CDA is also preparing a PC-I for another underpass at Faisal Avenue and Margalla Road. The authority has launched several road projects in recent years, while the federally funded 10th Avenue project remains incomplete, with around half the work still pending.
