ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has introduced a modern digital biometric verification system for federal pensioners to streamline the pension disbursement process and enhance transparency. The key highlights of the new procedure are as follows:
Verification via NADRA:
The “Proof of Life” verification for pensioners will now be conducted through NADRA’s digital platform instead of commercial banks. This platform will directly transmit signals to the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) and the Military Accountant General.
New Role of Banks:
Banks will no longer collect or store biometric data themselves; instead, they will act solely as pension disbursement agents.
Convenient Procedures:
Pensioners will be able to verify themselves from the comfort of their homes using NADRA’s Pak ID App, or visit NADRA centers, mobile units, bank branches, or use bank applications.
Suspension Policy:
In the event of failing to receive a digital signal for six consecutive months, the pension may be temporarily suspended. However, the account will not be completely closed or marked as dormant.
Alternatives and Overseas Pensioners:
For those lacking digital access, district accounts offices or pension facilitation centers can be contacted. Special arrangements have also been made for overseas pensioners.
Scope and Application:
The primary objective of this system is to bring transparency to the pension system. It applies to all retired federal employees and family pensioners.
