Iran has reportedly conveyed its response to a United States proposal aimed at ending the ongoing regional conflict through mediators in Pakistan, according to AFP, citing Iranian state media.
The official IRNA news agency said Tehran submitted its reply via Pakistani intermediaries, stating that the message addressed “ending the war and maritime security” in the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz.
However, no further details of the content were disclosed.
Meanwhile, tensions in the region remain high after an incident involving a South Korean cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
South Korea’s foreign ministry said the vessel, identified as HMM Namu, was struck earlier this week by unidentified aircraft shortly before arriving at a port in Dubai.
According to ministry spokesperson Park Il, the ship was hit on May 4 when “two unidentified aircraft struck the outer plate of the port-side ballast tank at the stern” in two separate impacts occurring about a minute apart, resulting in fire and smoke. Authorities did not specify the type of aircraft involved.
