Iran Air has decided to start flight operations to Pakistan. The launch of a flight between Mashhad and Lahore has been announced, as reported by national media on Tuesday.

According to details, Iran Air will begin flight operations to Pakistan and will operate one weekly flight to Lahore.
Officials stated that Iran Air’s regular flight operations to Pakistan will officially begin from October 29.

Officially known as the Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines, Iran Air is the national flag carrier of Iran. Established in 1944, it began as a small domestic airline before expanding to international operations in the 1960s.

The airline adopted the name “Iran Air” in 1961 after the merger of Iranian Airways and Persian Air Services. Its logo, featuring the mythical Persian bird “Homa,” symbolizes grace and cultural heritage, and the airline has long been a source of national pride, representing Iran’s connection to global air travel and commerce.

During its peak in the 1970s, Iran Air was considered one of the most modern and reputable airlines in the Middle East, operating a fleet of Boeing and Airbus aircraft and serving destinations across Europe, Asia, and North America.

However, following the 1979 Islamic Revolution and subsequent U.S. sanctions, the airline faced major challenges, including restrictions on purchasing new aircraft and obtaining spare parts.

Despite these obstacles, Iran Air continued operations, maintaining a critical role in connecting Iran with regional and international destinations, often relying on refurbished or leased planes to sustain its fleet.
