The International Defence Exhibition 2024 commenced today in Islamabad, drawing a diverse crowd of senior government officials, civil servants, diplomats, and leaders from the business community, including presidents of various chambers of commerce.
This significant event serves as a platform for showcasing both Pakistan’s locally manufactured defense equipment and the latest innovations from major defense companies around the world.
Organized by the Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), under the Ministry of Defence and Defense Production, the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) is a biennial event that has established itself as a premier gathering in South Asia. Since its inception in 2000, IDEAS has become a crucial venue for defense manufacturers, entrepreneurs, research and development specialists, financial experts, and top-level policymakers to foster cooperation, exchange knowledge, and explore collaborative ventures in defense technology and production.
The exhibition features a wide array of defense technologies and products, providing a unique opportunity for international and local companies to network and explore new business opportunities. Over the years, IDEAS has grown in scope and influence, reflecting Pakistan’s evolving role in the global defense market.
The 11th edition of IDEAS, held in November 2022, marked a significant moment as it returned after a four-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This event, traditionally held every two years, was postponed to ensure the safety of participants and to accommodate the challenges posed by the global health crisis.
Looking ahead, the 12th Edition of IDEAS-2024 is scheduled to take place from November 19-22, 2024, at the Karachi Expo Centre (KEC). This upcoming event is expected to continue the tradition of showcasing cutting-edge defense technology and fostering international collaboration, further solidifying IDEAS as a cornerstone event in the global defense calendar. The anticipation surrounding IDEAS-2024 reflects its ongoing importance as a platform for defense innovation and international cooperation.
