ISLAMABAD: Interim bail of Chairman PTI Imran Khan has been extended till April 18 in eight cases.
A two-member bench headed by the Chief Justice heard the bail pleas. Imran Khan’s requests for exemption from attendance today were approved.
His lawyer Salman Safdar appeared in the court and a petition was filed on behalf of Imran Khan for exemption from appearing in all cases in the Islamabad High Court today, in which he submitted that more than 140 baseless fake cases were filed.
Lawyers of Imran Khan, Barristers Salman Safdar, and Faisal Chaudhry, appeared in the court and took the position that the request for exemption from the presence of Imran Khan has been submitted, today the Prime Minister has arrived and security is necessary there.
Lawyer Salman Safdar pleaded with the court and said that finally we have to go to the trial court, and give relief till the second or third working day after Eid, there are so many cases and the investigation has to be joined.
The Chief Justice remarked that decorum should be maintained even in the subordinate courts. Imran Khan’s lawyer told the Chief Justice that the JIT has not been called for the investigation yet.
The Chief Justice remarked that it is now the 15th of Ramadan and there is half a month in Eid, how to give a date of two weeks before bail.
Imran Khan’s lawyer submitted that under normal circumstances, police officers join the investigation, give the questionnaire, answer them, and submit a written statement in response to the allegations.
The court approved Imran Khan’s request for an exception from today’s appearance and extended the bail of 8 cases till April 18, and postponed the hearing of the case.
