His comments came after the ECP failed to comply with the orders and directives of Islamabad High Court (IHC) and hold Local Government elections in Islamabad. The IHC had set aside the ECP’s postponement notification and ordered to hold LG polls as per schedule, i.e. today (Dec 31).

This morning the ECP filed intra-court appeal, challenging the single bench verdict of the IHC with prayer to fix the hearing today.

Senior PTI leaders have already demanded strict action under contempt of court laws against the ECP for its failure to hold LG polls in the federal capital.

Taking to Twitter, Imran Khan said “by not implementing IHC orders to hold LG elections in Islamabad today, ECP has again shown it is B team of imported government and its backers.”

Imran Khan said the ruling coalition of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was fearful of the masses and was running away from all forms of elections. He said “right of vote is a fundamental democratic norm and PTI stands committed to it.”
