ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and PTI’s founder Imran Khan has said that the “mother of all rigging” must end now because Pakistan has become a laughing stock globally, according to his sister Aleema Khan.
By “mother of all rigging,” according to Aleema Khan, the former premier means tearing apart the PTI, taking hold of its famous electoral symbol, the bat, preventing the party’s nominees from filing nomination forms, pressuring candidates to drop out of contention, and depriving the party the ability to canvass.
Aleema Khan told the journalists outside Adiala Jail, where Imran is serving a sentence, that her brother wants the culture of impunity to cease and that in order to restore the nation’s standing abroad, the people’s will must be honored.
Imran also ridiculed his arch nemesis, the PML-N, which willingly bartered away its narrative to grab power. “Instead of honouring the vote, the ‘selected ones’ have honoured the boot,” Aleema quoted Imran.
She went on to say, citing her brother, “The selection was so blatant and blind that corruption cases were dropped by the selectors against the’selected ones’.”
“Instead, following protracted trials on false allegations, the PTI chairman was given a 32-year prison sentence.”
Imran claimed that the Pakistani people were deprived of their democratic right to select their representatives through pre-election, election day, and post-election manipulation.
