ISLAMABAD: A high-level Saudi delegation led by the kingdom’s foreign minister is scheduled to visit Pakistan this month, sources on Sunday.
According to sources, the visit will take place within a fortnight. The Saudi FM will hold talks with President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud will be accompanied by the kingdom’s Minister of Energy Abdulaziz bin Salman and a team of Saudi businessmen and companies’ heads.
The establishment of an oil refinery in Pakistan will also come up during the bilateral discussions. The upcoming Saudi visit was sending positive vibes with regard to mending ties between Pakistan and the kingdom that embittered following Islamabad’s demand to call an OIC meeting on the Kashmir issue.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have expressed the commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
The resolve was expressed during a telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Saudi Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud on 15 December 2020. Both the personalities reaffirmed the longstanding and time tested ties between the two countries.
During the phone call, the Prime Minister conveyed warm sentiments for the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and the fraternal Saudi people.
Meanwhile, PM Imran also appreciated the social welfare and educational projects of the Sultana Foundation in Pakistan patronized by Prince Sultan. He also praised the Foundation’s philanthropic ideology which is aimed at the socio-economic welfare of the vulnerable segments.
Prince Sultan conveyed condolences over the sad demise of Late Chairman of the Sultana Foundation Naeem Ghani. The premier also lauded Ghani’s selfless devotion to the foundation. The Prime Minister also assured support and cooperation for the foundation in pursuit of its noble mission.
