The National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued an advisory warning of the potential health risks posed by smog, particularly during the winter months.

According to the advisory, the combination of toxic substances in the air and cold weather may lead to a surge in pneumonia cases.

The NIH has identified Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad as high-risk areas, with Lahore being the most affected.

The advisory urges authorities and health experts to take necessary measures to mitigate the impact of smog.

Recommendations:

– Minimize outdoor activities, especially for children and vulnerable individuals.

– Wear face masks in affected areas.

– Take precautions to protect health and seek medical attention if symptoms arise.

The NIH emphasizes that smog can have severe consequences for health, economy, and quality of life, and urges collective action to address this issue.
