KARACHI: Unidentified attackers opened fire at the office of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member of the National Assembly Qadir Patel in Clifton Block 9, with police confirming that the suspects fled the scene following the incident.
The attack occurred when occupants of a vehicle discharged firearms at the gate of the MNA’s office, targeting the main entrance where Patel typically enters and exits. Five 9mm pistol shell casings were recovered from the scene, according to police officials.
“The bullets were fired at the door of the office, striking the entrance multiple times,” said authorities investigating the incident.
“However, fortunately, no one was injured in the firing.” Several rounds penetrated the office door, though the exact number of shots fired has not been officially disclosed.
Upon receiving notification of the attack, law enforcement dispatched a substantial police contingent and a forensic team to secure the location.
Investigators collected ballistic evidence and examined the crime scene. SHO Boat Basin Muhammad Riaz and his team were present during the initial investigation.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the identities of the attackers have not been established.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are reportedly reviewing available surveillance footage and witness statements to identify the suspects and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
No statement has been released by the MNA’s office or the PPP regarding the incident as of press time.
