The federal government has increased the price of petrol by Rs22 to 272 per litre in a bid to appease the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for unlocking the critical loan tranche, hours after unveiling a tax-loaded ‘mini-budget’.
According to a late night notification issued by the Finance Division, the new prices will be effective from Feb 16.
After the hike, the new price of petrol is Rs272 per liter.
The new price of high-speed diesel is Rs280 per liter following an increase of Rs17.20 in its rate, while that of kerosene oil is Rs202.73 after a raise of Rs12.90.
After an increase by Rs9.68, light diesel will now be available for Rs196.68.
