ISLAMABAD: Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, on Friday said that 60,000 young graduates from across the country would receive paid internships under a government-sponsored internship program.
In a statement, the federal minister government was also offering scholarships to those who manage to secure admissions in the top 25 universities in the world.
The minister also mentioned that 100,000 college students would receive laptop computers to help them become more tech-savvy.
“During our last term, we distributed one million laptops, which had the effect of promoting the free-lancing culture among the youth,” he added.
Iqbal announced awarding 20,000 scholarships to the nation’s unemployed graduates last month. While speaking at an international meeting on higher education and workforce development in Islamabad, he made the announcement.
Ahsan Iqbal further announced that scholarships will also be awarded to the students of far-flung areas of the country under Youth Development Initiatives (YDI), recently launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
