KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan showed movement today as local quotes tracked international bullion trends and rupee fluctuations, according to market data available online.

Live rates indicate that domestic gold prices remain sensitive to global spot gold and the PKR–USD exchange rate, with import-dependent pricing pushing local premiums when the rupee weakens.

Key rates (24K):
– 1 tola (Karachi, closing): Rs. 504,500 (bid) — Rs. 505,500 (ask).
– 10 grams (24K): Rs. 432,530.
– 1 gram (24K): Rs. 43,253.
– 22K per gram: Rs. 39,648.
– 21K per gram: Rs. 37,846.
– 1 ounce (24K): Rs. 1,226,210.

Intraday and recent movements:
– Yesterday’s change: -Rs. 400 (-0.08%).
– 30-day change: +Rs. 6,300 (+1.26%).
– 1-year change: +Rs. 145,100 (+40.26%).

City spreads (selected asking rates):
– Karachi: Rs. 505,500
– Lahore: Rs. 505,550
– Islamabad: Rs. 505,600
– Quetta: Rs. 505,700
– Peshawar: Rs. 505,650

Market drivers include:
– International bullion prices set in US dollars, which remain the primary benchmark for local rates. When the dollar strengthens, imported gold becomes costlier in rupees; when it weakens, local prices can ease.

– Rupee volatility: short-term depreciation of the Pakistani rupee has historically translated into higher Pakistani gold rates even when global prices are flat.
– Seasonal and cultural demand (wedding season) that can create short-term spikes in demand for jewelry and increase local premiums.
– Supply-side factors such as import duties, trade restrictions and disruptions in global mining that can tighten supply and lift prices.

Analysts at note that investors use a mix of physical gold and PMEX (futures) products to gain exposure, and that PMEX trading and technical updates are widely used for short-term trading signals. The firm provides daily PMEX updates and research to help traders set targets and stop-loss levels.

What this means for buyers and sellers:
– Consumers purchasing jewelry should watch both the international spot gold price and the PKR–USD rate—local increases often reflect currency moves rather than bullion fundamentals.
– Investors seeking exposure without physical storage can consider PMEX products and tola/ounce contracts offered through regulated brokers.
