A major theft in Karachi’s history was reported on Monday after burglars broke through the wall of a jewelry shop and took away gold worth Rs300 million.
According to police, unknown suspects escaped with 606 tolas of gold and diamonds valued at Rs2.5 million. The incident occurred at a well-known jeweller in Iqbal Market, Orangi Town.
The proprietor, Ayub Khan, has lodged a case of burglary amounting to Rs300 million.
The FIR stated that when workers opened the shop on February 14, they found the boxes empty. Upon inspecting the rear of the premises, they discovered that the wall had been broken.
A total of 7,064 grams of custom-made gold ornaments were missing. Diamonds worth Rs2.5 million and other valuables had also disappeared.
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar sought a report from the SSP West and directed that teams be formed for the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the stolen property.
