SWAT: A sudden glacier eruption in the Mataltan Valley of Kalam, Swat, trapped seven climbers earlier today, disrupting their expedition to the base camp of Chota K2. The incident occurred en route, leaving the group stranded in the remote and treacherous mountainous terrain.
According to rescue officials, three climbers from Rawalpindi sustained injuries and have been transported to Saidu Sharif Hospital for medical treatment.
A medical team was swiftly dispatched following directives from District Emergency Officer Syed Shoaib Mansoor. After administering first aid, the injured were evacuated to the hospital.
MM News has learnt that the rescue operations are currently focused on locating Syed Ali Shah, a mountaineer from Khwaza Khela, who remains missing. The challenging terrain and remote location of the incident have posed significant obstacles to the rescue teams, complicating their efforts.
Reports from local sources indicated that the incident occurred in a rugged and inaccessible area, making rescue operations particularly arduous. Authorities are working tirelessly to overcome the logistical hurdles and ensure the safe recovery of all affected climbers.
