RAWALPINDI: In a heartbreaking incident, a 36-year-old father drowned while attempting to rescue his young son who had fallen into the flooded Nala Lai.
According to rescue officials, 6-year-old Muhammad Zahid, resident of Gulistan Colony, Rawalpindi, fell into the drain on Saturday. His father, Murban Khan, 36, immediately jumped into the drain to save him but was also swept away by the strong current.

Upon receiving information, teams of Rescue 1122’s water rescue unit reached the spot and launched a search and rescue operation. The operation to locate both father and son is still underway.
The missing persons have been identified as Muhammad Zahid, 6, and Murban Khan, 36, both residents of Gulistan Colony.
Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 has issued a safety advisory urging the public to avoid going near drains, canals and other waterways during the monsoon rains. The department has appealed to parents to keep a special eye on their children and never leave them unattended near water bodies.
