Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has started gas production from the Takri-1 exploration well, situated in the Jamshoro district of Sindh.
Drilled to a total depth of 4,156 feet, the well was spudded on November 11, 2024, to assess the hydrocarbon potential of the late Cretaceous/early Paleocene sands.
According to PPL, the well is currently yielding approximately 5.3 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas, with a flowing wellhead pressure (FWH) of around 950 psig at a 32/64-inch choke size.
This development was shared in PPL’s notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday. The notice announced that the Kotri North Joint Venture, consisting of United Energy Pakistan Limited (UEPL) as the operator with a 50% working interest, along with PPL and Asia Resources Oil Limited (AROL) holding 40% and 10% interests, respectively, has begun gas production from the Takri-1 discovery.
The gas extracted from Takri-1 is being processed at UEPL’s Aliabad Production Facility and will be supplied to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
