Lawsuits, false accusations, and cases filed against each other by the top political leaders of the country go on and on. It would not be wrong to say that this is an evergreen crop produced in our country.
It does not matter the coming or going of any season including winter, summer, autumn, and spring. Yesterday also, former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed requested to file a case against the current Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on charges of the crackdown, house raids, alleged vandalism, torture of employees, and robbery at home.
With the start of the budget, there was hope that there would be some kind of understanding between the government and the opposition to get the country out of the vortex of economic problems. However, the anger of both the government and the opposition toward each other does not diminish in any way.
Yesterday, the Islamabad police arrested the former provincial minister Ali Afzal Sahi in a crackdown on behalf of the government. As if a request for cases came from one side, then the score was settled by arresting the other side.
It is not yet clear whether the arrest took place first or the case was filed first, but there does not seem to be any serious effort from either side to resolve the issues and a very serious reality has been completely ignored.
The fact is that during the tenure of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, cases were launched against the opposition and the current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, his elder brother Nawaz Sharif,
Maryam Nawaz, former President Asif Zardari, and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, among others, suffered cases.
Then the same series of cases were registered against Imran Khan and then other PTI leaders including Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry not only suffered cases rather after the events of May 9 but he was also forced to announce his resignation from politics.
Regardless of the reasons behind leaving both the party leadership and politics together, it feels like Imran Khan has reaped what he sowed – cases, arrests, and court proceedings against his opponents.
Our Judiciary is also enjoying the whole process and the fact is completely forgotten that the current political instability has brought the country to the brink of economic collapse. Fears of default, the worst unemployment, and the highest inflation in history are clear evidence of this.
If the government and the opposition do not take care, the entire burden will have to be borne by the people, because God willing the country defaults or any other economic storm that may cause inflation and further unemployment, and other economic problems. Aggravating factors may arise, but they cannot be ignored in any case.
