A delegation from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) met with PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday to discuss the formation of a coalition government in the Center. The meeting took place in Raiwind. MQM-P has been part of a coalition government with the PML-N in the past.
MQM-P has secured 17 seats in the National Assembly from Karachi and Hyderabad, holding a significant position. Without the support of MQM-P, PML-N and PPP cannot form a coalition government in the Center. The delegation from the Karachi-based party was led by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. However, no details were shared with the media after the meeting.
It should be noted that PML-N aims to form a coalition government in the Center, as announced by Nawaz Sharif in his victory speech. However, the power-sharing formula has not yet been finalized.
Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif met with Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to discuss the formation of the government, but both parties have not made any official announcement in this regard.
On Sunday, Mariyum Aurangzeb, the spokesperson for PML-N, stated that no final decision was reached in the meeting between PML-N President Shehbaz and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. She added that both leaders agreed to hold further talks. Sharif has tasked Shehbaz with approaching other political parties to form a coalition government.
“Independent candidates are also very important in the electoral process. Responsibilities have been assigned to contact independent candidates,” Aurangzeb said in her post on X. “We recognize the mandate of all. Tomorrow is an important meeting,” she said and added that the final decision of the party leadership would be implemented.
